Inxstor Ltd announce extending place-shifting technology to Analog Deviced Blackfin processors.

January 2008

Inxstor Ltd. today announced an extension to NXVision, its unique embedded secure place-shifting system that allows users to access content from on a STB in their home anywhere in the world. This extension allows devices based on Analog Devices Blackfin processor to access the users content via an internet connection.

The NXVision system includes software for the consumer's STB that allows it to be accessed remotely, using a compatible PC, mobile phone and now portable media player (PMP), anywhere in the world, safely and securely. The content can consist of a live TV stream or previously recorded media on STB's hard disk, such as photos, music and video.

"ADI's Blackfin processor provides the wide range of capabilities required to bring innovative new capabilities to PMP's and other types of applications," said Mike Haidar, product line director, General Purpose DSP, Analog Devices.

A number of software blocks have been added to the Blackfin to support Inxstor's place-shifting technology, such as WiFi, RTP / RTSP, flexible user interface and ability to support mobile DRM schemes.

"ADI's Blackfin is an ideal platform to migrate Inxstor's NXVision system on to" said Dr Glenn Craib, Inxstor's CTO. "The concept of adding place-shifting on a PMP platform would not be possible without the flexibility and power available with the Blackfin".
